It is with heavy heart, we honor the memory of Retired Lt. Terry Fuller. He passed away earlier this week. Lt. Fuller retired in 2017 after spending 20 years of his life serving the people of his community.

Rest easy, Lt. Fuller; we've got the watch from here.

Ghost Town had a big turnout again this year! Here are just a couple of photos shared with us.

While providing security for the event, our officers also located 8 children who had gone missing from the supervision of their caretakers. We were relieved to locate each of the missing kiddos rather quickly after being notified and safely return them to their loved ones.

We would be remiss if we didn't remind you of some tips that help in those moments when your heart sinks. These are useful for all events you attend.
📸 Before you get to the event, take photos of everyone in your party.
🗺 Define a meeting location in case you get separated from each other and make sure everyone understands where it is.
📱 Put your phone number on your child's arm if they are too small to remember it.
📍If your child has a mobile device, enable location services (useful for those suffering from dementia too). You could also use something like an AirTag.
🚓 Remind kids to find a safe helper like an officer, firefighter, medical staff, or event personnel to locate their group.

If your kiddo goes missing, notify event staff or police earlier rather than later. Many eyes can make a world of difference. Have someone stay at the agreed meeting spot. We know that is tough to do, but if the child goes there, we want someone there for them who can notify everyone that they are safe.

We hope you never have to use this information, but it's always best to be prepared. Stay Safe out there!

Today is the day! One of Downtown Benton's most attended events.

GHOST TOWN!!!!

Be sure to swing by our booth and say hi to Lt. Jackson. He will have goodies to pass out to everyone.

Speaking of which, BIG THANKS to Walmart! They were gracious enough to supply us with a bunch of candy for the evening.

If you haven't been to this event before, it is a great event with tons of booths set up for everyone to check out. Bring the family and a costume! Our officers will be providing security throughout the event.

🚁 WHAT IF HELP COULD ARRIVE BEFORE THE OFFICER, FIRE FIGHTER, OR PARAMEDIC?

Benton is taking a new look at what’s possible in emergency response.

We’re excited to announce a trial program for Drone as First Responder (DFR) in partnership with BRINC Drones & Motorola.

This innovative technology could give our police, fire, and emergency medical responders a critical advantage by getting eyes on an incident faster, improving situational awareness, and helping keep our community and first responders safer.

But don’t just take our word for it.

👀 Come see it in action.

We’re inviting the public to a special demonstration where you can see the technology firsthand, learn how it works, and ask the questions that matter.

🚨 Honoring Saline County’s First Responders 🚨

The Gann Museum recently reached out to us for a few items to include in their special first responder exhibit, and we were honored to help!

From now through December 18th, the museum is showcasing the history of Saline County’s first responders, including:

👮‍♂️ Documents from former Police Chiefs and Sheriffs

🚒 Photos of past fire stations, jails, and police departments

🧑‍🚒 Uniforms and equipment used by first responders throughout the years

The best part? Admission is free, and no library card is required! The Gann Museum is part of the Saline County Library and is open Thursday–Saturday, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.

Stop by, explore the exhibit, and learn more about the rich history of Saline County. Be sure to visit with Cody, who has a wealth of knowledge about the incredible items on display! They even have a true crime piece if you are into that.

We’re proud to be part of preserving and celebrating the history of those who have served our community.

WE REMEMBER | SEPTEMBER 11, 2001

Today, the men and women of the Benton Police Department pause to remember September 11, 2001.

Twenty-five years ago today, our nation was forever changed.

We remember the 2,977 innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001. We honor the courage of the first responders who ran toward danger, including the 343 firefighters, 23 NYPD officers, 37 Port Authority Police officers, 8 Paramedics/EMTs, and 11 Nurses who made the ultimate sacrifice at the World Trade Center.

They answered the call without knowing what awaited them. They served, they protected, and they made the ultimate sacrifice.

For those of us who wear a badge today, September 11 carries a special meaning. It reminds us of the courage and selflessness expected of those who choose a life of service—and of the responsibility we have to honor those who came before us by continuing to serve our communities with courage, compassion, and integrity.

We remember the fallen.
We honor their families.
We stand with our fellow first responders.
And we will NEVER FORGET.

🇺🇸 September 11, 2001 — 25 Years Later, We Remember.

Serving with Honor. Protecting with Courage.
