Saline County Remembers 9/11 on 25th Anniversary
About 65 people gathered today at the Saline County Courthouse to remember and honor the lives lost during the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, marking the 25th anniversary of 9/11.
The remembrance ceremony was organized by the Saline Crossing Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Although stormy weather forced the gathering indoors, it did little to diminish the significance of the morning. Members of the National Guard, firefighters, first responders and law enforcement filled the room alongside community members who came together to remember a day that changed the nation forever.
Beginning promptly at 9:11 a.m., the ceremony opened with the Pledge of Allegiance, setting a solemn tone for a morning dedicated to remembrance, honor and gratitude.
A particularly moving part of the ceremony was presented by members of Legacy Keepers Nursing Honor Guard of Arkansas. They held photographs honoring the 11 nurses who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks. Their presence served as a poignant reminder that among the thousands who perished that day were nurses and other healthcare professionals who were caught in the tragedy while serving others.
Twenty-five years later, the memories of September 11 remain deeply etched in the hearts of Americans. Gatherings such as this one provide an opportunity not only to remember those who were lost, but also to honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders, military personnel, nurses, law enforcement officers and ordinary citizens who answered the call to help.
On this 25th anniversary, Saline County came together to ensure that the lives lost on September 11, 2001, are not forgotten — and that the spirit of service, courage and unity they inspired continues to live on.
