This week, we would like to recognize our cadets of the week. These two have been working hard this year.

Landon Arrowood has shown excellent leadership qualities as a squad leader, always seeking to become better each day in class. He has consistently led his squad by example in both knowledge and behavior. Even outside the classroom, he has shown exceptional commitment to making it to after-school teams and events.

Abigail Roaseau comes to class daily with a positive attitude; she always has a smile and is a bright spot in the company. During uniform inspections, she is always on top of her chain of command and her ranks. She is always there for after school/push up teams and demonstrates lots of enthusiasm for the program as well as the people around her. She has had a great start to her 8th grade year.

This week, our cadets have been actively engaged in various activities. In the classroom, we have been administering the Cadet Challenge, a comprehensive fitness assessment comprising push-ups, curl-ups, V-sit reach, shuttle run, and a 1-mile run. Additionally, we conducted our regular uniform inspection. The highlight of the week was our cadets' participation in the New Life Ranch fundraiser at the Benton Event Center, where 30 of them volunteered to serve dinner.

This week, we would like to recognize our Cadets of the week. Vaylen Brown has shown amazing enthusiasm ever since his first day in the classroom. He lights up the faces of those around him and never runs low on energy. Vaylen shows incredible potential for future leadership and can tackle even bigger challenges.

Spencer Roberts is a good example to the cadets around him. Others look to him for advice in and out of the program. He shows many leadership qualities and always keeps his peers in a good mood, even when things get difficult.

Last week, we took the Panther Battalion leadership to the Arkansas 4-H center for the ExCEL leadership program. The program is a unique team-building experience that was designed to strengthen our cadets through intentional challenges and reflection. The cadets started on the ground, building relationships, trust, and confidence in each other through a series of exercises. They then moved to a 15-foot vertical wall where they had to develop a plan and work together as a team to get everyone over the wall. The afternoon was spent on a high ropes course and a zip line where the cadets had to overcome fear and nerves while they navigated their way through the course.

Here are a few things that the cadets said about the trip.

“This experience revealed how good we are at communicating with each other, trusting each other, and leading or guiding each other through hardships. I didn't realize how good we really could be at these things until this trip.”

“No matter what we go through, we're not alone. None of the activities we did could we have done by ourselves; we NEEDED someone with us to help and support.”

“It showed us that when pressure is applied, we are able to work together while staying organized and not panicking.”

“It really revealed the basics of how communication and trust of others can lead to really exceptional results, like when they had me go last for the 12 ft wall with everyone hyping me up, and my jumping and trusting them to push me up, we did exceptional work and achieved the near-impossible.”

🏈 Friday Night Lights + Homecoming! 🐾

The JROTC Push-Up Team was back under the lights Friday night for Homecoming! Before the game, we held our annual cookout for the cadets and enjoyed some time together before the push-ups began.

Since it was Homecoming, our question of the night was: “What’s your favorite thing about Benton High School?” ❤️

And this week, we had a special guest join in and answer our question — Benton High School Principal Mr. Barger!

We loved hearing everyone’s answers and celebrating some of the things that make Benton High School such a special place.

Another great Friday night with our cadets! 💪🏈

Yesterday was a busy day for the Panther Battalion. We had a few promotions for cadets who have carried over their outstanding performance from last year to this year. We also performed two color guard ceremonies. The first one was for the BHS volleyball game during their Military Appreciation Night, and then the cadets performed for the BJHS football game. Congratulations to these cadets for their hard work.
