💙 We show up for our community—and for each other!

EMTs Nicole and Holly cheered on our cadets Lucia, Maddie, and Alaina at their GL senior soccer night! They were joined by fellow cadet Anousha and associate member Aaratrika to celebrate this special milestone.

Because being part of BHVRS is about more than serving our community. It’s about showing up for one another, on and off duty. 💙🚑

🚑 Community Day at Woodruff Elementary! 🏫

We had a great time visiting Woodruff Elementary today for their Community Day! Our EMTs talked with students about important safety tips, what to expect when you call 911, and how they can help in an emergency.

And we got a little help from some of our youngest community members — our future EMTs! ❤️🚑

We love getting the opportunity to connect with the kids in our community and help them feel confident and prepared when it matters most.

✨ Cadet Spotlight: Lucia ✨

Lucia, a high school senior at Union County Academy for Information Technology, joined BHVRS in April 2025. She is hoping to become a physician and specialize in neurosurgery and felt that responding to emergencies would allow her to experience the medical field beyond the classroom.

What keeps her coming back is the opportunity to be there for people when they need it most. Lucia mentions that she loves “being able to support someone when they’re having one of the worst moments of their life— by just being there and giving them something steady to hold onto.”

When she’s not volunteering with BHVRS (where she serves as Cadet Co-Captain) Lucia stays busy giving back even more to her community! She hosts STEM workshops for kids, tutors math, volunteers with the Berkeley Heights Kindness Team, and is a two-year Relay for Life Team Captain- with her team raising more than $3,000 for the American Cancer Society.

She was also recently selected for the Stanford University’s Harris Internship 2026-27 cohort, where she’ll be interning with Stanford’s Neurosurgery department—an exciting next step toward her future in medicine!

Her advice to anyone thinking about joining:

“Don’t be scared. Just take the first step and reach out to us, learn more about what we do. Here, we all help each other out and learn from one another to keep growing.”

We’re glad Lucia took that first step. ❤️🚑

We’ll be welcoming our next class of cadets soon! Interested in becoming a cadet? Our Open House is October 29. Stay tuned here for more details in the coming weeks!

Rain didn’t stop the BHVRS crew from showing up this morning for the Kimberly Anne Wilson Foundation 5K! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🌧️ Kimberly Anne Wilson Foundation

Several of our members ran or walked the race, and it was great to see so many people come out and support this wonderful cause despite the rainy weather.

We are proud to be part of a community that shows up for each other! ❤️
