“Campus public policy Carmel P. Friesen professor Robert Reich said he thought it was “wonderful” that Kirk was coming to campus since it was the birthplace of the free speech movement. He elaborated, noting that despite Kirk’s differing beliefs to many members of the campus community, the event provides the opportunity for community members to respond thoughtfully and ask for evidence to support Kirk’s political positions.” — The Daily Cal, 17 hours ago (https://www.dailycal.org/2022/04/11/conservative-commentator-charlie-kirk-to-make-campus-appearance/)
POST-SPEAKER EVENT DEBRIEF! Following the Charlie Kirk event, Bridge is hosting a dialogue and pizza party to provide space for students who are affected by the visit and platforming in any way. We all know how divisive events with speakers similar to Kirk have been in the past. Charlie Kirk may have a lot to say, but we know you all do, too. BridgeUSA was founded for this very reason — when someone a campus is inclined to de-platform comes, we know that we need spaces of dialogue the MOST. Regardless of party ID, hearing someone you disagree with speak about WHY they they hold their beliefs is invaluable. Come talk to Bridge after the event to debrief and share your thoughts & feelings following the highly controversial Charlie Kirk campus visit.
Find out more about the movement on our nationals website: https://www.bridgeusa.org/ and consider going to Bridge's future events!
