What a full circle moment. As a student at Stephen Decatur High School, I received the gold level Presidential Service Award (250+ hours) each year I was eligible for my volunteer work as a cadet with the Berlin Fire Company. Today, I had the opportunity to speak to this year’s recipients on the importance of giving back to our community. Congratulations to the students who were awarded today!

Last week, we celebrated the retirement of Town Administrator Mary Bohlen. Mary worked for the Town of Berlin for over 3 decades and has been a key member of our leadership team for years. Her hard work and dedication have helped Berlin grow into the town it is today.

Mary, thank you for stepping up and agreeing to be Town Administrator when we really needed you. Enjoy retirement!

If you asked me as a 5th grader at Berlin Intermediate School if I would be lucky enough to get to marry my classmate Chelsea, I'd tell you there would be no chance she would want to spend forever with me. Here we are two children and a whole lot of adventures later celebrating a decade together. Happy 10th anniversary to the woman who keeps me grounded and challenges me to be a better person every day. Thank you for navigating this crazy, busy life by my side. I love you more and more every day.

It was a very busy day yesterday on Bay Street. Town of Berlin crews and Groundwork Solutions Inc. spent the entire day working on the new water and electric service to Town Hall. Crews will continue working on the project today but Bay Street will remain open.

Thank you all for your hard work during a very warm September day!

How lucky are we to have such an amazing Police Department,!

On Wednesday, our officers participated in a training/refresher on forensic evidence collecting and general crime scene information. We are thankful for CST Schultz, CCSI, from the Ocean City Police Department, for sharing her time and knowledge with us.

As a smaller agency, we preach the motto "Small Department, Big Role." This means training our officers to be successful in all aspects of a police officer's duties. It also means our officers are encouraged to seek out what interests them so that they can grow, and, in turn, the department can grow.
