This is a great video from our friends down in Stephentown! When responding to calls we often utilize GPS but in our rural environment GPS is not always accurate, especially with houses set back far off the road. We still depend on house numbers on every emergency to confirm location and avoid missing a driveway. House numbers should be reflective, at the road, and easy to read at night driving down both directions of your road.

We don't have to tell you, you already know it's hot out there! Be sure to stay hydrated, limit your time in the heat as much as possible, and check in with the people around you. And don't forget about your pets!

Know the signs and stay safe. Signs of heat stroke include a body temperature above 104°F (40°C), hot, red skin, confusion, slurred speech, seizures, loss of consciousness, or the person stops sweating (though they may still sweat with exertional heat stroke). If you notice these signs, call 911 immediately, move the person to a cooler place, and begin cooling them with cold water, ice packs, or cool wet towels while waiting for help.

Last week, members of Taconic Valley Ambulance worked with other area first responders to put together a mock DWI crash ahead of Berlin CSD's prom. The reenactment served as an important reminder to students to not drink and drive.

Events like these are important in our community to educate young drivers the dangers one can face if intoxicated behind the wheel. We hope our community stays safe as we begin to celebrate graduates over the coming weeks!
