This fall, school districts across the North Country are partnering with the New Hampshire School Funding Fairness Project to bring a series of free community presentations about school funding and property taxes to the region.
Over four nights, we’ll be visiting communities across Coös and Grafton counties to help residents better understand how New Hampshire funds its public schools, why state funding decisions have such a significant impact on local property taxes, and what potential solutions could look like.

During each presentation, we’ll break down:
- How New Hampshire funds public education and where the money comes from
- Why school funding and local property taxes are so closely connected
- Local and statewide school funding and property tax data
- How decisions made at the State House affect local schools, communities, and taxpayers
- Recent education and school funding legislation
- Potential solutions for the future of school funding and property taxes in New Hampshire
Each event will include interactive activities and opportunities to ask questions, share your own experiences, weigh in on taxes, revenue options and spending priorities, and talk with your neighbors about what solutions could look like for the North Country and the state.
These presentations are designed to run approximately 90 minutes including Q+A, and are intended for anyone who wants to better understand this issue.
Come learn how the system works, see what it means for the North Country, and tell us what you think.
