🎃 Happy National Pumpkin Day!

From front porch decorations to pumpkin pie, pumpkins are a fall favorite. But did you know Michigan is one of the top pumpkin-producing states in the country?

Michigan farmers grew approximately 115 million pounds of pumpkins in 2025! That's a whole lot of pumpkin spice, carving, baking, and fall fun.

Here at Berrien County Conservation District, we're proud to celebrate the farmers who help keep our communities fed and our agricultural traditions growing. Behind every pumpkin patch is a growing season, healthy soil, hard work, and a little help from our pollinators.

Today is a great excuse to support a local farm, visit a pumpkin patch, bake something delicious, or simply enjoy the season.

Tell us in the comments: Are you team pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread, or jack-o'-lantern? 🎃

Fall brings many changes to our landscape, and to invasive species management! As we head towards the colder months, it's time to start planning what invasive shrub work you want to get done this year. To help, each of our three conservation districts (Berrien County Conservation District , Cass County Conservation District , and Van Buren Conservation District ) has a pullerbear w**d wrench, a great mechanical option to pull those pesky shrubs up by the roots. Reach out to your local conservation district for more details!

What a week for Berrien County Conservation District! 🌱

We had the opportunity to attend the MACD Conference alongside conservation districts from across Michigan, bringing home so many new ideas for workshops, educational materials, grant opportunities, technician support, and so much more. We love learning from one another and finding new ways to better serve our community!

But one of our biggest highlights? Our very own Emily came home with TWO awards!🏆

We are so proud of Emily and the dedication she brings to conservation and regenerative agriculture. Her hard work makes a difference, and it’s wonderful to see that work recognized across the state.

We are so thankful for our incredible staff, our fellow conservation districts, and the community that makes our work possible. We came home inspired, motivated, and ready to keep growing together!

Congratulations, Emily! We are lucky to have you on our team! 💚
