Did you know?

In Virginia, the percentage of youth in foster care placed with kinship caregivers has nearly doubled in the past four years, jumping from 11.78% in July 2022 to 22.3% in June 2026!

That growth reflects a shared commitment across the Commonwealth to place children with relatives and close family friends whenever it is safe and possible.

Kinship care means children are cared for by relatives or close family friends — people they already know and trust. It keeps love, culture, and stability intact.

During Kinship Awareness Month, we’re recognizing the caregivers and child-serving professionals working to make those connections possible.

🚌 RED LIGHTS FLASHING? THERE IS NO GUESSING! STOP! 🛑

With students heading back to school tomorrow , it’s a good time to refresh your knowledge of school bus safety.

Do you know when you’re required to stop for a school bus? The answer can depend on the type of roadway you’re traveling on. Check out the graphic and make sure you know before you go!

When you see a school bus:
🟡 Yellow lights = Slow down and prepare to stop
🔴 Red lights & stop arm = STOP when required
👀 Watch carefully for children entering or crossing the roadway
📵 Put the phone down and stay alert

A few extra seconds of patience behind a school bus could prevent a tragedy.

Stop today, so they can live tomorrow.

Please SHARE this post and help us keep Clarke County students safe this school year! 💛
