It is 30 days until the Lavender Festival! I'm excited to announce a new presentation this year. Katrina Sims, Grasslands Wildlife Biologist with NRCS will be presenting a talk on the Importance of Pollinators. This is so incredibly intertwined with our ability to grow food. So put that in your list. I will post the schedule soon.

Understanding Defamation of Public Officials
Defamation of public officials involves the making of false statements that damage the reputation of individuals holding public office. Such statements can be oral (slander) or written (libel) and have significant implications for both the individual and public discourse.

Public officials, by virtue of their roles, are often subject to increased scrutiny, but they also enjoy certain legal protections when their reputation is unfairly harmed. Understanding the nuances of defamation law as it applies to public officials is essential for balancing free speech rights with protecting individuals from malicious falsehoods.

In legal terms, defamation of public officials is generally governed by specific standards that require proof beyond mere falsehood, often involving elements such as malice or knowledge of falsity. This framework aims to prevent abuse while ensuring that responsible speech about public figures is safeguarded.

It alerts you when anything is recorded on your property.

Prosecutors tell ABC News that this kind of fraud is unfortunately easy to commit and can cost as little as 70 cents to fraudsters, but for the victim, it can potentially take their home.
