What goes into determining future water rates? A lot more than simply looking at this year's costs.

LTWD’s Water Rate and Fee Study is examining the District’s financial position and cost structure, including residential and non-residential rates, allotment methodology, Plant Investment Fees and other fees.

The study is designed to help LTWD understand whether rates are covering the true cost of providing reliable water service and whether costs are being allocated fairly across customer types.

The study findings are being presented to the LTWD Board as part of the process for developing 2027 rates and fees.

We’ll continue to share updates as the process moves forward.

Give your sprinklers a break. Your trees may still need a drink. đź’§

After a hot and dry year, Little Thompson Water District is partnering with water providers across Boulder County to encourage continued water conservation this fall and winter.

As temperatures cool, it's time to shut down automatic sprinkler systems for the season and let established lawns go dormant. But don't forget about your trees and shrubs! They may still need supplemental water during extended dry periods, especially after a hot, dry summer.

Here's how you can help:
đź’§ Turn off automatic sprinklers for the season.
🌳 Water trees and shrubs as needed, based on weather conditions.
🏡 Continue making water-wise choices indoors and outdoors.

A wetter winter would be welcome, but replenishing our water supplies takes time. The choices we make now can help our region prepare for the year ahead.

You've put the sprinklers away for the season, now take a look at your water use.

Your annual allotment is the amount of water assigned to your tap each year. Staying within it can help keep your bill predictable and monitoring your use can help you spot unusual spikes that could point to a leak.

Not sure where you stand? Check your LTWD bill or use EyeOnWater to track your water use and see how you’re progressing toward your annual allotment.

A few minutes of checking now can give you a clearer picture heading into the end of the year: www.littlethompsonwd.gov/eyeonwater

Ever wonder what happens to your water before it reaches your tap?
There’s a lot more to it than turning on a faucet.

At the Carter Lake Filter Plants, water goes through several steps before it enters LTWD’s distribution system:

• Coagulation and flocculation
• Filtration
• Disinfection
• Fluoridation
• Corrosion control

And the process doesn’t stop there. Water is continuously monitored and then moved through miles of transmission lines, storage tanks and pumping stations before reaching customers.

It’s a complex system built around one simple goal: providing safe, reliable, good-tasting water.

There’s a lot happening behind your faucet.

Water has to be treated, tested, stored, pumped and delivered across LTWD’s service area before it ever reaches your home.

Our Water Treatment & Distribution blog takes you behind the scenes to explain how that process works and why maintaining all of that infrastructure matters.

If you’ve ever wondered where your water comes from or what happens before it reaches your tap, this is a good place to start: https://www.littlethompsonwd.gov/water-treatment-distribution

Customer service doesn’t always happen behind a desk.

It happens when a crew heads out to investigate a problem. When someone takes the time to explain a charge on a bill. When a customer calls with a question and someone works to find the answer.

There are a lot of people and a lot of moving parts behind reliable water service.

This Customer Service Week, we’re saying thank you to the LTWD team for all the work, seen and unseen, that goes into serving our community.
