VILLAGE OF BETHALTO WATER SYSTEM FLUSHING

The Village of Bethalto will be flushing its entire water system starting October 1st and continuing until completed. Customers can expect occasional stained water and periods of low pressure throughout this process. If you notice stained water, you should run ONLY cold water into your tub until the water runs clear. During periods of discoloration, you may want to refrain from laundering clothes. Any questions, please contact Water Plant Operator Jim Williams at (618) 570-5098. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we complete this necessary task.

Fall Clean Up is scheduled for the week of October 19-23, on your usual trash pickup day. Bulk items should be set out at the curb by 6am the morning of your trash pickup. Some restrictions apply--visit our website bethalto.com (under the Public Works/Trash tab) or contact Republic Services at (618) 656-6883 for further information.

Fall yard waste pickup begins October 7th and runs through December 30th. There is no charge for this service if you are a Bethalto resident, and pickup will be weekly on Wednesdays.

Yard waste service provides a maximum collection of 8 paper biodegradable bags (no plastic) or 32-gallon trashcans. If trashcans are used for yard waste, they must be marked with a 2′ X 2′ red “X” and be left as close to the roadway as possible or they will not be collected. Bags or cans of yard waste must not exceed 50 pounds in weight. Sticks and twigs up to four inches in diameter will be collected in 2’ x 4’ bundles tied with twine.

For further information, contact Republic Services at (618) 656-6883.
