Bethlehem Volunteer Fire Department Established in 1940, the Bethlehem Volunteer Fire Department serves the community of Bethlehem, CT.

The Bethlehem Volunteer Fire Department was founded in 1940 to serve the citizens of Bethlehem, Connecticut and the surrounding area. The department consists of members from both Bethlehem and neighboring communities. BVFD responds to fire, rescue, and medical emergencies 24 hours a day 365 days out of the year. This page is actively monitored but, for emergencies please call 911.

To say we are speechless is an understatement! Thank you to the Town of Bethlehem who allowed us to put this event on. Thank you to all the fire departments that showed up and showed out in less than perfect weather. Thank you to Hummel Bros and Napoli Foods for your generous donations. Thanks to John and Laura for donating your musical talent and keeping us all entertained. Thank you to Bethlehem Baseball for cooking the hot dogs and thank you to our favorite bartender Tina for keeping the taps flowing. Thank you to Santa for taking time out of his hectic schedule to spend the day with us. This event turned out to be exactly what we planned it to be, a great day celebrating each other.

Lastly, thank you to the community. Especially those who braved the weather and greated everyone with smiling faces when we all marched down Main Street.

The clean up is done we are back in service and have already started planning for a bigger and better next year more info to follow.

Also remember Bethlehem is the Christmas Town and December 4th is the Bethlehem Christmas Town Festival Light Up Procession and Christmas Festival more to come on that hope to see all of you there.

Nonvention Participants

WE ARE A GO for Sunday!!!!
We realize there is rain in the forecast for Sunday but we have a plan. If it is raining at the time of step off we will make it a truck parade. We plan on emptying out our apparatus bay and having the after parade inside. We have food, drinks, and live music all ready to go. Remember what this is about. There is no competition, no judging, just fun celebrating our brotherhood and sisterhood in the fire service. We are not going to let a little rain ruin the day for all of us.

We are less than a week out! With a long list of RSVP’d Fire Departments, we are looking forward to a fun day for the Fire Service and the Community! This event will be happening this Sunday, September 20th, with step off being at 1pm. The event afterwards will be taking place on the Babe Ruth Field with Live Music until 5pm.

Parade lineup will be going north on Flanders Road. Flanders Road will be open to one way local traffic only from Robert Leather Road to 3 Flanders Road/Thomson Road beginning at 11am. Any department that is attending is asked to enter the lineup from Robert Leather Road. The road will be opened back up once the parade is completed.

Looking for a fun event for the whole family this September?

The Bethlehem Firefighters Association is excited to welcome fire departments from around the area to Bethlehem for a Firemen’s Parade!

The parade will follow the Memorial Day Parade route, beginning at 3 Flanders Road and ending at the Bethlehem Fire Department.

After the parade, join us on the Babe Ruth Field for an afternoon of food, refreshments, and fun! Have a town organization that would like to get involved? Let us know!

This year, participating departments are invited to come out, enjoy some friendly camaraderie, support our communities, and help us raise money for the Litchfield County Firefighters Cancer Relief Fund. All proceeds from parade registrations will be donated directly to the fund.

Registration is restricted to Fire Departments and Private Fire Apparatus Only. However, anyone can come to watch and join us at the Babe Ruth Field after.

Come out, support the fire service, and enjoy a great day with your neighbors!

It is with heavy hearts we remember and honor Bethlehem Ladies Auxillary member Katherine Lorensen, wife of Bethlehem Volunteer Fire Department Life Member Clark Bennett, who passed away with peace and grace on Sunday, August 2nd. Please keep her family, friends, and community in your thoughts and prayers.

Shortly after 10:00 a.m. this morning, members were dispatched to Main Street North for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, crews found the interior of the home filled with smoke. A working fire was declared, bringing in assistance from our mutual aid departments. Although a hose line was deployed, firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire to a single area within the home, minimizing damage to the rest of the structure.

We’d like to thank our Mutual Aid Partners Morris Fire Company, Bantam Fire Company and Litchfield Fire Department CT as well as Bethlehem Ambulance Association, Inc. for standing by.

On this 250th Anniversary of American Independence Weekend, our members have been hard at work serving our community.

The weekend began on the morning of July 4th as members assisted with preparations for the Town of Bethlehem's 250th Celebration Parade. Firefighters proudly represented both the Town and the Department as they marched in the parade and partnered with the Bethlehem Ambulance Association, Inc. to provide coverage throughout the event.

Later that evening, after severe weather unfortunately cut the celebration short, the department was requested as part of Task Force 83 to respond with an engine and crew to Torrington. Our members assisted with coverage while Torrington crews responded to multiple storm-related emergencies throughout the city.

On Sunday morning, the Bethlehem Firefighters Association hosted its annual Car Show, welcoming community members and automotive enthusiasts for another successful event.

The busy weekend will conclude tonight as our members provide fire protection standby for the Town of Bethlehem's Independence Day fireworks display.

We are proud to serve our community whenever and wherever we're needed. Have a safe and happy Independence Day weekend!

Monday, members of the Bethlehem Volunteer Fire Department proudly attended the Town of Bethlehem Annual Memorial Day Parade and Memorial Day Services as we joined our community in honoring the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.
