The annual nighttime Trick-or-Treat is coming to the Village of Big Bend!

🚒🎃 Join the Big Bend Fire Department! Our firefighters will be out and about in the community, handing out candy and helping make Halloween a fun and memorable night for everyone!

Get those costumes ready, stock up on treats, and keep an eye out for our firefighters as you enjoy a spooktacular Halloween evening! 🍭👻

This is Fire Prevention Week, remember that safe charging habits help prevent lithium‑ion battery fires.

Safe Charging Guidelines

• Use approved equipment: Always use the exact manufacturer-approved charger and cord that came with your specific device.

• Charge on hard surfaces: Place devices on flat, hard, non-flammable surfaces while charging. Never charge them under pillows, on beds, or on couches.

• Charge large devices outside: Larger high-energy items like e-bikes and e-scooters should be charged outdoors or in well-ventilated, detached areas if possible.

• Avoid overnight charging: Do not leave items charging unattended or while you sleep. Unplug devices once they reach a full charge.

• Watch for warning signs: Stop using and unplug a battery immediately if you notice swelling, a hot surface, a strange odor, hissing, or a burning smell.

At 5:14pm the Big Bend Fire Department was dispatched for a three vehicle accident in the construction zone on Southbound I-43 and STH 164 involving a semi and two other vehicles. The accident caused complete road blockage and one patient was extricated from a vehicle and transported to a local hospital. Two other patients were released at the scene. I-43 was closed for two hours until the vehicles and debris were cleared from the interstate.

Our thanks to the Big Bend Police Department, Waukesha Sheriff’s Department, AM Towing and Wisconsin DOT for their assistance.

Congratulations to Odin, Ryan, and Brantley! 🎉

Today, we had the pleasure of taking these three to breakfast and then to school as part of our Ride to School Community Event. Everyone had a fantastic time riding in the fire trucks! 🚒

We’re grateful for the opportunity to make their morning extra special and we were very happy to drop them off safely at Christ Lutheran School.

What a fun way to start the school day! ❤️
