💜🕯️ BILLERICA OVERDOSE AWARENESS VIGIL🕯️💜

Please join Billerica Substance Awareness & Prevention (BSAP) for an Overdose Awareness Vigil on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at 6:00 PM on the Billerica Common.

💜 We gather to remember those we have lost to overdose, honor those in recovery, support the families and loved ones who carry the pain of loss, and bring hope to anyone still struggling.

Behind every statistic is a person. A family. A friend. A story that matters. Substance use disorder affects individuals and families in every community, and no one should have to face it alone.

This vigil is an opportunity to stand together, remember those who are no longer with us, support those whose lives have been touched by addiction, and reaffirm our commitment to prevention, recovery, and saving lives.

💚 Thank You, Billerica! 💚

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by the BSAP booth at Yankee Doodle today! We loved seeing so many families, kids, and community members, and it was especially meaningful to see so many people taking the time to learn more about Prevention, Recovery, and the resources available right here in our community.

One thing that really stood out was the number of residents asking for Narcan. 💜

We’ve come a long way.

There was a time when stigma kept people from talking openly about substance use, asking questions, or reaching out for life-saving resources. Today, we saw something different. People were comfortable walking up, asking for Narcan, learning how to use it, and talking about why having it available matters.

That is progress. That is Prevention. And that is what community looks like. 💚

As we recognize Recovery Month, we’re reminded that recovery is possible, prevention matters, and having resources in the hands of our residents can save lives.

Thank you for continuing to stand with us, support one another, and help make Billerica a community where there is no shame in asking for help and no stigma in carrying Narcan. 💜

Together, we’re changing the conversation.

⚠️ NEW FENTANYL THREAT NOTICE — PLEASE READ & SHARE ⚠️

Yesterday, the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) issued a new Drug Threat Notice warning about the growing presence of highly potent fentanyl analogues, including carfentanil, fluorofentanyl, and methylfentanyl, in the illicit drug supply across the country.

Carfentanil can be up to 100 times more potent than fentanyl, and these substances can be found in counterfeit pills and mixed into other illicit drugs. ONDCP is urging the public to be aware of the risks and to be prepared to respond to an overdose with naloxone.

💜 One of the most important things you can do is carry Narcan (naloxone).

Narcan is available FREE and with NO QUESTIONS ASKED at the Narcan distribution boxes located at Billerica Town Hall.

You don't have to be struggling with addiction to carry Narcan. You may be able to save the life of a friend, family member, neighbor, or stranger.

If you encounter someone experiencing a suspected overdose:
CALL 911 • ADMINISTER NARCAN • STAY WITH THEM

Please take Narcan. Please carry it. Please share this information.

It was an honor and privilege to present Billerica's 2026 National Recovery Month Proclamation to lifelong Billerica resident Betsy Kwedor, celebrating an incredible 2.5 years of sustained recovery. 💜👏

Betsy’s journey is a powerful reminder that recovery is possible, hope is real, and every day of recovery is worth celebrating. Her strength, courage, and willingness to share her story help bring hope to others who may be struggling and remind our community that no one has to walk this journey alone.
