The City of Billings and United Way of Yellowstone County are excited to invite you to Make a Difference Day! Our organizations have chosen to celebrate this nationwide moment, in honor of America250 and Montana250 celebrations, and host a Volunteer Fair at the Amend Recreation Center on October 24th from 10am to 2pm.

The goal of this event is to promote volunteerism and help you find a place to serve in our community. There will be dozens of nonprofit organizations all in one place to introduce you to a range of service opportunities that you can support. If you have been considering the impacts of mental health on our citizens, the needs of youth, or supporting the environmental issues impacting the Yellowstone Valley, please consider this your call to action!

Thank you to Visit Billings for supporting and promoting this event! Special thanks to Mayor Nelson for proclaiming October 24th Make a Difference Day in the City of Billings. Please join us to answer the call from our Mayor to “join the volunteer movement and serve our community” from this week’s City Council meeting. Thank you for all you do to serve our City!

A reminder that things are starting to wind down, even though it seems nice out! Freezing temps are coming, and our team will be quickly working through above ground water, including all dog water stations! Make sure you start preparing for no bathrooms nor water in your park visits.

We don't want to cause alarm, but now that it's 🍁 fall - our staff are preparing for winter 🥶

Here's a look at the planned processes for winterizing aquatics, facilities, and irrigation over the next month. Staff will work through the end of October to complete winterization. Starting next week, irrigation and building exteriors will be winterized. And for most of our park visitors, be prepared that smaller parks will see bathroom closures beginning in early October.

Depending on changing forecasts, of course, but that's tomorrow's problem - it's sunny and beautiful today! 🌞 Get outside! 😎
