It is a privilege to work with the volunteers who care for the animals and the rangelands they live on. Best of luck to our friends at Pine Nut Wild Horse Advocates this season!

Many thanks to the The Association of Zoos and Aquariums for hosting a fantastic conference in Portland! We enjoyed a week of visiting with wildlife professionals from across the country and came away inspired. Many incredible things are happening in the zoo world to protect animals and connect the public with conservation and we're grateful to be a small part of it.

We are gearing up for the AZA 2026 Conference next week in Portland. Stop by our booth if you're in the neighborhood!

Through a grant from Montana Native Plant Society, we were able to make The Native American Medicinal Plant Garden (Jay's Garden) even better! We added 15 new species, signs for individual plants, and educational signs about the benefits of native plants in the landscape. A unique and fascinating aspect of Jay's Garden is a focus on the Indigenous names and traditional uses of the plants.

Last week, we welcomed 30 students from Wyoming who came to Jay's Garden to learn about native plants and collect seeds for their own native garden at their school. Many thanks to Montana Native Plant Society for their support of this native garden, we hope it's an inspiration and resource for many years to come!

The Native American Medicinal Plant Garden is a ZooMontana Botanical Society Garden and open to the public year-round on the grounds of ZooMontana.
