π Youth & Police Initiative Program Graduation!
On Friday, March 20th, nine students from the Johnson City School District proudly graduated from our 12th weeklong Youth and Police Initiative - YPI, held at the Binghamton University Downtown Center.
This impactful program was facilitated by LT. Faulkner, Officer Walter, and Officer Harford, alongside dedicated officers from the Johnson City Police Department, NY and Binghamton Police Department, all serving as certified YPI trainers. We were also grateful to have participation from the Endicott Police Department, Broome County Sheriff's Office, Broome County Probation, and the Broome County District Attorney's Office.
Throughout the week, youth and law enforcement came together to engage in meaningful discussions, interactive activities, and scenario-based training. These experiences helped participants strengthen their communication, public speaking, and facilitation skills while building genuine connections.
The core mission of YPI is to break down stereotypes and foster trustβand this group truly embodied that goal.
Congratulations to all of our graduates, and thank you to everyone who helped make this program a success!

Don't fall for email scams! There are criminals who will send emails advertising work for "interns" or similar positions here at the university.. These emails will generally come from random gmail addresses not verified Binghamton University addresses. They then usually ask you to reach out to a random phone number or other email address. These are scams!! Always verify the email address of the sender. Also if an affiliated professors name is used, check the university website directory to look up that persons verified email address. These scams will often send people who reply a fraudulent check, ask them to deposit it and to then send a portion of the money back. This is a dead giveaway and will result in you losing any money sent. Be vigilant, confirm email addresses, reach out through verified contact info available directly from university sources, don't click links and when in doubt simply delete the email. University Police is always available for questions or taking of reports related to this type of activity.
AVOID:
Random email addresses,
Requests to deposit checks
Requests for purchases of gift cards
Requests to communicate via social media apps
Anything that just sounds π π π π
