Parks Season Begins Today!
Now through Labor Day, our officers will be patrolling county parks. Stop by and say hello if you see us!

🔒 Lock your vehicles & never leave belongings unattended
📍 Notify someone of your plans & where you’re going
🚶 Stay on posted trails & wear reflective clothing while walking
👶 Supervise children at all times & create a safety plan if separated

Peace Officer Memorial Day

Broome County Government Security Division joins in honoring all Law Enforcement Officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty for the protection and safety of the communities they swore to serve.

Today, we remember the courage, dedication, and selfless service of those who gave their lives in service to others. Their sacrifice and commitment to protecting our communities will never be forgotten.

May their sacrifices never be forgotten.

It was a great day today for Community Day at Dick’s House of Sport as we concluded Police Week 2026. Thank you to all who came out and visited with us!

Police Week 2026

Yesterday, the Broome County Government Security Division took part in the fallen officer memorial breakfast and candle lighting ceremony for Police Week.

During the breakfast, 40 fallen officers were remembered, including Ithaca Police Investigator Michael Padula who died in the line of duty 30 years ago this November.

We were especially honored to be present as Officer Brianna Wojcik was recognized as a recipient of the Southern Tier Law Enforcement Memorial Association scholarship. Congratulations Officer Wojcik!

Next Monday, May 4th, marks the beginning of the Southern Tier Police Week, a time dedicated to the memory of the 40 Officers from the Troop C region who have fallen in the line of duty. Broome County Government Security is honored to participate in each of these events on an annual basis.

Each of these events (excluding the breakfast) are family-friendly and open to the public. We hope to see you there!
