The official result are in! Our Broome County 4-H Horse Program kids did a fantastic job at Hippology and Horse Bowl this past weekend. So well, in fact, that we're sending teams on to the state levels of both competitions! We are very proud of our hard working 4-H'ers!

We have a brand-new program starting up here in Broome County-- our 4-H Makers Market! 4-H'ers who signed up for this program will develop their entrepreneurial skills as they create a line of products to market at the Broome County Fair. Last night they brought their product prototypes for feedback and walked through their business plans.

We were very fortunate to have CCE's nature educator Carolyn Klein teach our 4-H Spark Club about owls last night. Everyone (even parents) had the opportunity to dissect owl pellets-- which were chock full of the owls' dinner remnants.

The district Hippology competition is coming up fast-- it's this Saturday-- so one of our horse volunteers put together an impromptu virtual judging lesson for our 4-H competitors last night. Thank you Tess.

Our county-level public presentations event finished up this week. Everyone did a great job, and we love watching their skills grow from year to year.

4-H Public Presentations is a nation-wide program for our youth that encourages the growth of public speaking skills that last a lifetime!

Encouraging the development of public speaking skills is one of 4-H's most important goals, so we were overjoyed to have such a great response to this year's Public Presentations event. We are proud of the hard work everyone put into their presentations. And we would like to offer our best wishes to those moving on to represent Broome County 4-H at the district level next month!

Last night, our Cloverbuds put their taste buds to the test! They sampled foods with different seasonings and discovered just how easily a simple sprinkle can transform flavor. They went on to start their own kitchen herb gardens in personalized jars.

The weather was perfect last weekend for 4-H'ers from across the state to gather at the Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center for its annual Winterfest. Four Broome County 4-H'ers attended the event where they learned to cross-country ski and snowshoe, while making new friends with other 4-H'ers from around the state.

This fantastic event happens every year and it's worth waiting for!

URGENT 🚨 We need volunteers! 🙌💚

We are urgently looking for supportive adults to help with our County Level 4-H Public Presentations / Horse Communications on Saturday, Feb. 28.

This is a cornerstone 4-H event where youth give a short presentation or demonstration to build real-world confidence, communication, and leadership skills. For many kids, it’s their first time presenting in front of others, and having encouraging adults in the room makes a huge difference.

No prior 4-H experience is needed and we provide a 1-hour Zoom training beforehand, so you feel comfortable and confident.
