Broome County District Attorney F. Paul Battisti announced today that Craig T. Shoemaker, 37, of Vestal, was convicted on June 3, 2026, before the Honorable Judge Carol A. Cocchiola in Broome County Court on all three counts following a jury trial:
โข Promoting Prison Contraband in the First Degree
โข Promoting Prison Contraband in the Second Degree (Count Two)
โข Promoting Prison Contraband in the Second Degree (Count Three)
The charges stem from an incident in September 2025, in which Shoemaker, while confined to the Broome County Correctional Facility in the Town of Dickinson, was found to be in unlawful possession of a lighter which constitutes dangerous contraband as well as quantities of to***co.
โCorrectional facilities cannot operate safely when individuals attempt to introduce prohibited items into these secure environments. Todayโs guilty verdict sends a clear message that conduct that undermines the safety and order of our jails and will be met with serious consequences. I thank the jury for their service and the law enforcement professionals whose dedication ensured that justice was served.โ ๐ฌ๐๐ข๐ ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ญ ๐๐ญ๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ง๐๐ฒ ๐

Today, the Broome County District Attorney's Office was proud to attend the Crime Victims Assistance Center, Inc.'s Memorial Wall Ceremony at Roundtop Park.
What began as an Eagle Scouts project by Schyler Savage, inspired by the loss of his own mother, has grown into something truly meaningful for our entire community.
This wall exists to honor those we have lost to crime and to give their families and loved ones a place of peace and remembrance.
That mission is one our office holds close to everything we do.
To every victim and every family represented on that wall, you are not forgotten.

Broome County District Attorney F. Paul Battisti announced today that Dustin Yannuzzi, 45, of Binghamton, was found guilty by a Broome County Jury on May 22, 2026, before the Honorable Judge Carol A. Cocchiola in Broome County Court on the following charges:
โข Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree (Methamphetamine)
โข Felony of Tampering with Physical Evidence
โข Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree
โข Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree
On October 2, 2024, in the Town of Union, Yannuzzi operated a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta at a high rate of speed, engaging in conduct to unlawfully flee members of the New York State Police Violent Gangs and Narcotics Enforcement Team. While fleeing, Yannuzzi threw from the motor vehicle a package containing over two ounces of methamphetamine, which was ultimately recovered by the New York State Police. Yannuzzi was subsequently taken into custody at a local hotel and arrested.
"This defendant's conduct not only jeopardized the health, safety, and welfare of our community by operating a motor vehicle at a high rate of speed in a residential neighborhood, he also possessed a large quantity of methamphetamine. The good work of the New York State Police, coupled with the prosecution team, was able to eradicate that poison from our community and hold the defendant fully accountable, where he will now serve a lengthy State Prison sentence." ๐ฌ๐๐ข๐ ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ญ ๐๐ญ๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ง๐๐ฒ ๐
