We're making good progress on the library renovation project. On the interior, plumbing, electrical and mechanical rough ins are complete or soon will be. And building insulation is underway with drywall to start in early October. Outside, the contractor is working on curbs and sidewalks. We're on track for an early 2027 opening and can't wait to celebrate with you!

Coast Salish artist Jason LaClair created one of our two new library card designs unveiled during Library Card Sign-Up Month. We love it! Do your family and friends have a card? Encourage them to visit the Birch Bay bookmobile stop (3-7 p.m. Wednesdays) near the The C Shop to get started! With a new card, they can visit the bookmobile during our renovations and be ready to go when we open in 2027.

LIBRARY CARD SIGN-UP MONTH: Now that's a beautiful library card! We are honored to feature a design by Coast Salish artist Sienum Jason LaClair as one of our new library card options. Jason originally created "Cedar People" to accompany our Land Acknowledgement. We knew right away it would look great on a card. Thank you, Jason. We are grateful to partner with you on this and other projects. Donors to the Whatcom County Library Foundation funded the artist's commission. Thank you! Choose "Cedar People" or one of our other designs when you apply for your library card at any WCLS branch.
