Flip Flop Day was anything but a flop! We painted flip flops in patriotic colors to decorate our room. We did yoga with Amy. We talked about various kinds of shoes. Who knew there were so many!! After lunch and balloon volleyball, Don and Lynda entertained us with summertime songs! 🩴

In 1958, the Wham-O toy company introduced the plastic hula hoop to the United States. Over 25 million were sold in this country in just four months! We celebrated this amazing cultural fad with puzzles, competitions, and hit records from 1958! Thanks to our youth volunteers today! Not sure what they thought of our 1958 music, but the HULA HOOP was quite a hit! Another fun day at Anchor!

Just in case you might want to see our version of the CHICKEN Dance!

In celebration of Dance Like a CHICKEN Day, we did puzzles about CHICKENS, ate CHICKEN pot pie and EGG salad sandwiches for lunch, and—of course—we danced with some CHICKENS! We also found time to play a very exciting axe-throwing game in which Paul’s Bunions edged Tony’s Tigers 18-17 to win the championship! We had such a good day having fun and laughing together! 🐥 🐣 🐥

We celebrated BASEBALL today with lots of activities!! ⚾️ We painted baseballs using Qtips. We had a baseball park lunch of hot dogs and tater tots, beans and slaw. We talked about A to Z things you might see at a baseball game. We had a pitching contest. It was close but the Pirates edged out the Anchor Angels 38 to 35. We sang Take Me Out to the Ballgame in music along with other great songs. Fun day! ⚾️⚾️

Today Alabama Wildlife was supposed to bring birds to visit us. Although they had to cancel at the last minute, we still had a bird themed day. We painted pictures of birds using Qtips that turned out so pretty. Everyone’s was unique. We decorated our room with them for summertime. Pastor Mike visited and gave us a great devotion based on Isaiah 40:31, soaring like eagles! After lunch and volleyball, Don and Lynda entertained us with songs about birds. 🦅 🦅

We had a Paint-Pouring Party today and created some beautiful works of art! When the paint dries, we can take our creations home to remind us of what a fun day we had! We also listened to some “oldies” music on our headphones. The WVOK DJs from the 50s, 60s, and early 70s would have been quite impressed with some of the moves on our dance floor!
