Anchor Community Respite Ministry Anchor Community Respite Ministry provides fellowship and stimulation for people living with memory loss due to Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s, or stroke.

The program also gives care partners a break each week to take care of life.

We enjoyed our Fall Leaves Day. We made colorful leaves using shaving cream, water colors, and squeegees. Fun method! We talked about things that FALL. Yes, someone said breasts! We’re all at a certain age!! We did a time slip activity. We all looked at the same picture and used our imaginations to create a story about the family who might live in this picture. Good activity for using our imaginations. We loved having our students and Christy back with us on their fall break! We enjoyed singing hymns with Nancy at the end of the day. 🍁 🍁 🍁

Pumpkins 🎃 were everywhere today as we continued to celebrate the fall season. We had a very competitive game of pumpkin bowling; we have a few who might be willing to share their bowling techniques with others!!! After volleyball, we enjoyed drinking dirty sodas, singing a mixture of hymns and fun songs, and wishing Bobbie a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!🎶🎂🎶

Today was a fun day at Anchor! Gail and Wayne led us in our fall decorating activity. Everyone got a pumpkin and we decorated them with nature items. We also had our first chapel service, led by Rev. Margaret Grubic.

It was Oktoberfest at Anchor today!! We drank “beer,” ate pretzels and almonds, and made pretzel necklaces. We were entertained by our own Funky Chicken. Our multitalented friend, Peter, came and entertained us with accordion music and piano music. We talked about the history of Oktoberfest in Germany and were able to name many cars some made in Germany. We felt like we were at an actual Oktoberfest celebration in Germany!! What a beautiful day in the neighborhood as we paid tribute to Mr. Fred Rogers. We talked about Mr. Rogers and the impact he made on children everywhere in America. We painted wooden cutouts to hang on our doors for fall decor. We dressed up in sunglasses, party hats, and boas to celebrate the birthday of a special person! After lunch and balloon volleyball, we sang hymns with Nancy. It was a beautiful day in our neighborhood!😊😊

Today we held our annual coke can derby! Everyone always has a great time with this. Each person was given 3 chances to roll a tennis ball and knock down as many cans as possible. Really brings out the competitive spirit! We enjoyed yoga with Amy. It was great having Joe back with us today! After lunch and volleyball, we enjoyed singing “fall” songs with Don and Lynda.
