On Saturday, Councilor LaTonya Tate joined volunteers on a walking cleanup/tour of the Fountain Heights Farm Collective properties in District 9. This is an incredible organization that’s working to educate people on sustainable urban farming, while also providing thousands of pounds of fresh produce to the surrounding community every year.

A little gray sky couldn't slow down District 4. This weekend, Councilor Brian Gunn, and a dedicated crew of Inglenook neighbors proved that community spirit doesn't depend on the weather. Despite the cloudy conditions, the team rolled up their sleeves and put in the work to beautify, refresh, and invest in this historic part of our city. Almost 220 pounds of trash was collected on Saturday.
When we show up for our neighborhoods, we show up for each other. Thank you to everyone who filled a trash bag, and brought their energy to the cleanup. A cleaner, safer Birmingham starts block by block, led by the people who call it home.
Check out the photos from the day to see community pride in action!

Big thanks to for putting on the Envision Birmingham Panel, last night.
“If I could change one thing, I’d make sure every house had a front porch. I really believe this is where community is built,” Councilor Darrell O’Quinn said. “I always tell people, go take a walk in your neighborhood. You’ll be amazed at the connections you make when you unplug and get out in your neighborhood.”
