Together, we can solve hunger! We work day by day to feed those in need within Central Alabama.

Summer is upon us, and we're kicking off our summer feeding program this month, continuing our commitment to feeding children during summer break. This year, we've expanded from 10 to 16 distribution sites across central Alabama. These distributions provide families with shelf-stable items, a bag of easy-to-access snacks, frozen protein, and fresh fruit.

In May, 773 volunteers contributed 1,506 hours of service in our warehouse. We received 1,523,844 pounds of food and distributed 1,509,513 pounds across central Alabama, providing over 1,257,927 meals to our neighbors facing hunger.

Achieving the mission of the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama is a collaborative effort, and we can’t do it without you!

When school is out for the summer, many families lose access to the meals their children count on during the school year.

Through our summer feeding programs, the Community Food Bank provides food to children and their families during the summer months when school meals are unavailable. Distribution sites will have family meal boxes, snack packs, fresh produce, and frozen protein.

Families can find summer meal sites near them at feedingal.org/summer-meals.

Food drives are one of the easiest ways to join the fight against hunger — and they can be fun, too. Challenge your friends, coworkers, classmates, church group, or neighbors to see who can collect the most food.

In communities across America, people are doing everything they can to provide for their families—budgeting, cutting costs, and stretching each paycheck. But sometimes, even that isn’t enough, and keeping food on the table can be a challenge. That’s where SNAP grocery benefits make a difference, serving as a vital bridge for people facing tough times.

SNAP strengthens local communities and economies. But recent changes to SNAP may impact families’ access to this crucial program. Right now, states across the country need more time to adjust to upcoming changes to SNAP.

Tell Congress: Support a two-year delay in the SNAP cost shift to keep the program stable and help families afford groceries.

“People will just know that there are more people out there that care about them, that they’re not alone,” Rev. Delaney Holloway.

That’s the heart behind the Oxford First UMC Mobile Pantry. Every month, volunteers from Oxford First UMC and other local churches gather to distribute 200 mobile pantry boxes and support their neighbors facing hunger.

The heart of their mission is to create relationships that go beyond food. Through this partnership, neighbors are finding food, encouragement, and a caring community waiting to welcome them.
