Birmingham City Schools welcomed author, activist, athlete, and entrepreneur Colin Kaepernick today for a special Lumi Student Showcase celebrating the creativity, research and storytelling of middle school scholars.

Students from Green Acres Middle School, Hayes K-8 School and Phillips Academy were recognized during the showcase and had the opportunity to present their work to Kaepernick, the founder and CEO of Lumi, and invited guests! ✍🏽

Yesterday, we celebrated their hard work, growth, and accomplishments as they transition to 7th grade! We are incredibly proud of all they have achieved this year and the determination they have shown along the way.

Today, we celebrated an incredible milestone as we honored our 8th Grade Class during the Green Acres Middle School Promotion Ceremony!

We are extremely proud of each of our scholars for their hard work, perseverance, growth, and determination throughout their middle school journey. Today marks the end of one chapter and the exciting beginning of another as they prepare to transition to high school.

As they take this next step, we encourage them to continue striving for excellence, embracing new opportunities, and believing in their ability to achieve great things. The future is bright, and we know our Mustangs are ready to make their mark!

🧠💚 Mind Strong: Mental Health Awareness Expo! 💚🧠

Our students were fully engaged in interactive activities and meaningful conversations focused on mental wellness, self-care, resilience, and positive coping skills. Mind Strong created a fun and supportive environment that reminded our students that their mental health matters. 🌟

A HUGE thank you to the Birmingham City Schools Social Emotional Learning Department for hosting this incredible experience for our Mustangs. We truly appreciate your commitment to supporting the whole child and creating impactful opportunities for our students! 👏🏾💚

Our GAMS Sneaker Ball was an incredible success, and the smiles, style, energy, and joy from our students made this event truly unforgettable! From the fresh sneakers to the amazing outfits, our Mustangs showed up and showed OUT! 🖤💚💛

A HUGE shoutout goes to 💐 Ms. Byner 💐 for her hard work, dedication, creativity, and leadership in coordinating this amazing event for our GAMS kiddos. Your commitment to creating memorable experiences for our students does not go unnoticed, and we are so thankful for everything you poured into making this night special! 👏🏾✨
