Global Lightning ’15 is a LUCTE (Live, Virtual, Constructive Training Environment) training exercise spanning seven Army posts, lasting 26 days, with 10,000 participants from the Active Army, the Army Reserve, the National Guard, the Air Force, the Navy, and British, Canadian and German troops! The exercise combines real world, hands on training, with the virtual world to allow the soldiers to train tasks from the individual level all the way up to Brigade command and control systems.
Adding to the realism is the geographical footprint of the exercise. Soldiers are deployed to Ft. McCoy, Wisconsin, Ft. Dix, New Jersey, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, Ft. A.P. Hill, Virginia, Ft. Hood, Texas, Ft. Huachuca, Arizona, and Ft. Lewis, Washington, mirroring the reality of troops deployed far away from parent and supporting units.
The exercise runs until the 24th of June.
