My Degan Valentine: A Celebration of Love & Legacy ❤️

Daniel & Brionna Bryant, Class of 2016

Daniel and Brionna were first connected during Freshman Orientation week in 2012 at Talladega College. As incoming freshmen eager to experience all that Dear Ole Dega had to offer, their paths crossed in the Fanning Refectory. When Brionna could not find an empty table, she took a seat across from Daniel, who was finishing lunch alone.

After Brionna said grace, Daniel asked her if she was a Christian believer, sparking a meaningful conversation that lasted until Brionna had to rush off to her next workshop. Before parting ways, Daniel asked to stay connected, and Brionna replied with a simple, “Find me on Facebook.” Later that week, they reconnected near the WALL and have been connected ever since.

Talladega College remains deeply meaningful to their journey because the Cafe marks the very beginning of their love story. Daniel and Brionna are also members of NPHC organizations Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc, sharing the Live Five line number, further strengthening their bond through shared values and service.

Today, Daniel and Brionna have been happily married for nine years and are the proud parents of two beautiful daughters, Grace and Nova. Among their favorite memories are quiet moments spent sitting on the benches in the Quad and outside of DeForest Chapel, enjoying campus life together.

Earnest & Shayla Brown, Class of 2003 and 2004

In 2001, on the beautiful campus of Talladega College, Earnest and Shayla Brown’s story began. What started as simple conversations and shared moments slowly grew into something meaningful.

When summer break arrived, there was no distance between them. Both were from Birmingham, and that summer was filled with laughter, time together, and deeper connection. After meeting each other’s parents, they discovered something extraordinary. Their families had grown up in the same neighborhood, attended the same schools, and their grandmothers were friends. It felt as though their story had been written long before they ever stepped onto Talladega’s campus.

By the time the next semester began, friendship had blossomed into love.

Talladega College is meaningful to their journey because it was the place where their paths finally crossed. On August 26, 2026, they will celebrate 20 years of marriage, honoring a love story rooted in faith, family, and divine timing.

Their story reminds us that sometimes destiny simply needs the right campus to bring it to life.
