🚒 A Day of Learning with BFRS!

We had the pleasure of welcoming Wenonah High School’s Fire Science Class, led by Captain Watson, and JAG Program, led by Ms. K. Johnson, for an exciting day of learning and exploration!

Students toured the fire station and visited 911 Dispatch and Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency (EMA), gaining firsthand insight into the important roles these agencies play in keeping our communities safe.

Throughout the day, students also enjoyed lunch provided by BFRS, giving everyone an opportunity to connect and share their experiences!

Thank you to Wenonah High School for spending the day with us! We hope this experience inspires the next generation of public safety professionals! 🚒🔥

Stay alert when you’re cooking!

Cooking is one of the leading causes of home fires. A few simple steps can help keep your kitchen and your family safe.

- Stay in the kitchen while cooking.

- Keep anything that can catch fire away from the stovetop.

- Turn pot handles inward.

- Never leave cooking unattended.

- Keep a properly rated fire extinguisher nearby.

If you’re sleepy, distracted, or leaving the kitchen turn it off!

Smoke alarms give you an early warning when there’s a fire. Make sure yours are ready to protect you and your family!

🔔 Test your smoke alarms regularly.

🏠 Have smoke alarms on every level of your home, inside bedrooms, and outside sleeping areas.

🔋 Replace batteries when needed.

🔄 Replace smoke alarms that are 10 years old or older.

A working smoke alarm can give you the time you need to GET OUT!

🔌 Don’t charge your devices under your pillow, on your bed, or beneath blankets. Charging devices need proper airflow to help prevent overheating and fires.

✅ Charge devices on a hard, flat surface.
✅ Use the charger that came with your device or one approved by the manufacturer.
✅ Unplug your device once it’s fully charged.
🚫 Never use damaged cords or chargers.
