Yesterday, the Bishop Fire Department had the pleasure of visiting local Bishop schools for our annual Fire Prevention Day!
This educational event gives students the opportunity to learn about fire safety, meet their local firefighters, and get an up-close look at the equipment we use to keep our community safe.
One of the most important lessons we teach is that while firefighters may look a little scary in their full protective gear, we are always there to help! 👨🚒
Our main speaker, Firefighter Costello, led the students through important fire safety lessons, including what to do in the event of a fire, how to STOP, DROP, and ROLL, and one very important question: “Who do you call in an emergency?” The answer? 911! 📞
Of course, the day wouldn’t be complete without some excitement! Students enjoyed live demonstrations, including hearing a saw in action, climbing a fire ladder, watching firefighters gear up, and even getting the chance to spray water!
A huge thank you to our local schools, teachers, and students for welcoming us! We always look forward to this opportunity to educate our youngest community members and show them that firefighters are their friends.
Fire prevention starts with education, and it’s never too early to learn! ❤️🚒
