📣 What do school communicators need to know about the new Federal Scholarship Tax Credit program?

Beginning in 2027, the program will provide federal tax credits to individuals who donate to approved scholarship-granting organizations. Those organizations can then award scholarships for eligible K-12 expenses at private and public schools in participating states.

As families, staff and school board members seek information about the program, clear communication will be essential. 🏫

COSSBA Director of Communications and Government Relations Julie Feasel wrote an article for the National School Public Relations Association explaining the program and sharing resources to help school communicators prepare.

COSSBA Executive Director Kathy McFarland shares highlights from her recent trip to Washington, D.C., where she met with leaders at the Federal Communications Commission and the U.S. Department of Education.

At the FCC, Kathy shared the school board perspective and reinforced the critical role E-Rate plays in keeping K-12 schools connected. 💻

At the Department of Education, she met with Assistant Secretary Kiresten Baesler to introduce COSSBA’s mission and begin building a productive working relationship. 🤝

Students from schools across Bismarck and Mandan are teaming up for this student-led, community-wide food drive to help provide food for people in our community.

.. and there are even FEWER days until the deadline for students to share their holiday artwork with us!

This is our annual call for student artwork! NDSBA is once again looking for original holiday-themed artwork to feature on our annual holiday cards. Students in our member school districts are invited to submit an original, landscape-oriented design measuring 5.5" wide x 4.75" high.

The winning artwork will be showcased on NDSBA's holiday cards in December.

The winning artist will receive a $50 Amazon gift card and recognition in the December Bulletin – plus, NDSBA will donate $200 to the winner's classroom!

All submissions must include:
✔Student's name
✔Grade
✔School district
✔Teacher's name
