🇩🇪 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT STUDY ABROAD OPPORTUNITY 🇩🇪
The Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Program (CBYX) offers 210 young Americans annually the opportunity to live with a host family and attend high school in Germany for an academic year. CIEE administers CBYX on behalf of the U.S. Department of State. I’m reaching out to ask for your assistance in promoting the CBYX scholarship program to high schoolers who have been involved with your programming, as well as any parents, educators, or other community members who can share this opportunity.
Why study abroad with CBYX?
· CBYX is a fully-funded scholarship sponsored by the Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and jointly funded by the German Bundestag and the U.S. Congress.
· Previous German language experience is not required.
· Develop language and career skills that make you more competitive and connected globally.
· Build leadership abilities and relationships at home and abroad.
· Join an alumni network advancing the U.S.-Germany partnership.
· Gain a college advantage. This is also an excellent gap year program for students applying as current high school seniors.
Students who are U.S. Citizens born between February 1, 2009 and August 1, 2012 with a GPA of 2.5 or higher are eligible to apply. Please see this “Quick Facts” sheet for additional information, which can be shared with students, families, and community members.
The 2027-2028 CBYX online application can be found at www.usagermanyscholarship.org, and is due by November 3, 2026. Students are welcome to visit our website ciee.org or email [email protected] for more information. We encourage any interested students to go ahead and start an application – there’s no application fee.
