🚒 A Major Milestone for Bittinger Volunteer Fire Department 🚒

Today marks an exciting new chapter for the Bittinger Volunteer Fire Department. After operating from our fire station at 176 Brenneman Road for the past 53 years, our department officially moved into our newly renovated firehouse at:

📍 11794 Bittinger Road

Effective today, 11794 Bittinger Road is our active fire station. Our emergency apparatus, equipment, and response operations are now based out of this location, and this is the station from which we will respond to emergency calls.

Our former station at 176 Brenneman Road is no longer our active emergency-response station. It will remain an important part of the department and community, continuing to serve as our social hall and kitchen for fundraising events, department activities, and community rentals.

This project has been several years in the making. In 2022, the department received grant funding that helped make it possible to purchase the building and property from Beitzel Corporation. Since then, countless hours of planning, renovation, and hands-on work by our personnel have gone into transforming the property into a firehouse we are proud to call home.

Reaching this milestone would not have been possible without the tremendous dedication of our volunteers and the continued support of our community.

To everyone who has donated, attended a fundraiser, volunteered their time, supported our events, or helped with this project in any way — thank you.

We are proud of our 53 years of history at Brenneman Road and excited to begin this next chapter while continuing our commitment to serving the community.

🔥 Training Night in Bittinger 🔥

Tonight, members of Bittinger Volunteer Fire Department joined with personnel from several of our mutual-aid departments for hands-on training focused on propane emergencies.

Crews reviewed propane hazards, emergency response considerations, scene safety, and tactics that may be needed when responding to incidents involving propane systems and equipment.

A special thank you to Thompson Gas Oakland, Md for providing an excellent training opportunity and, most importantly, for giving their time and expertise to support our local volunteer firefighters. Partnerships like this help ensure our responders are better prepared when an emergency occurs.

We also appreciate all of the volunteers and mutual-aid departments who took time out of their evening to participate. Training together before an emergency helps us work together more effectively when our communities need us the most.

9:03 a.m. - Flight 175 crashes into floors 77 through 85 of the South Tower.

9:37 a.m. - American Airlines Flight 77 crashes into the Pentagon. The crash and fire kill 59 on the plane and 125 on the ground.

9:59 a.m. - The South Tower collapses after burning for 56 minutes. More than 800 people in and around the building are killed.

10:03 a.m. - United Airlines Flight 93 crashes near Shanksville, Pennsylvania after passengers and crew storm the cockpit. Forty people on board, excluding the hijackers, perish.

10:28 a.m. - The North Tower collapses after burning for 102 minutes. More than 1,600 in and around the building are killed.

We have not forgotten.
