The Jackson County Historical Society was happy to participate in last Saturday’s Downtown Trick or Treating event!

It was wonderful to see so many little ghosts, goblins, and creative costumes out enjoying the Halloween festivities throughout downtown. Thank you to everyone who stopped by and helped make the event a fun and memorable community tradition!

From all of us at the Jackson County Historical Society, we wish everyone a safe and Happy Halloween!

This photographic postcard was sent to Amanda Borreson in Taylor, Wisconsin in 1910 from her brother August in Laona, Wisconsin (near Rhinelander). The precious card is damaged, faded and folded after many years of handling. The iconic image of two men sitting on a crescent Moon was taken in an unknown photographers photo booth. This old card is the inspiration for a Moon photo booth for taking pictures of trick-or-treaters in their costumes, at the annual Halloween party in Taylor. The Taylor Museum has recreated the Moon and it will be at the party Saturday night to capture images and make history. Take a trip to the Moon, and never leave town! Happy Halloween!

Unknown names but photos taken in Black River Falls in the late 1800's. Thought these were fitting for some fun for Halloween. The net the woman is wearing was for protection from dust, wind, debris, and bugs while traveling in open carriages.
