Indigenous Peoples’ Day was recognized in communities across Wisconsin this year, and Ho-Chunk Nation Legislators were honored to take part in several of those gatherings.

District 3 Representative Shelby Visintin accepted an Indigenous Peoples’ Day proclamation from the Beloit City Council. District 2 Representative Kyle White Eagle gave opening remarks at the Baraboo Indigenous Peoples’ Day celebration, and District 2 Representative Damian Thundercloud led tours in La Crosse, sharing Hoocak history and the Nation’s deep connection to the area.

We also want to thank all Hoocak communities, organizers, volunteers, and community partners who put their time and energy into making these events possible. These gatherings help share our history, strengthen relationships, and bring people together.

💜 Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Black River Falls 💜

Saturday morning was a great day for the BRF community to gather for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, sponsored by the Ho-Chunk Nation. Rep. Smoke attended with her family, alongside HCN tribal members, BRF community members, and many others united in support of those affected by Alzheimer’s.

The event had a Promise Garden on Display, where the different colored flowers shared a personal story:
🧡 Orange – Supporting the cause
💜 Purple – Remembering a loved one lost to Alzheimer’s
💛 Yellow – Caring for someone living with Alzheimer’s
💙 Blue – Living with Alzheimer’s
🤍 White – The first survivor of Alzheimer’s

Each flower represented a personal connection to Alzheimer’s and a reminder of why this walk means so much. Thank you to everyone who came together to support, remember, and walk for a future without Alzheimer’s.
