With Indigenous People's Day in October and National Native American Heritage Month in November, we'd love to share with you a new exhibit featuring the work of Artist, Votan Henriquez.

From Venice, California with Mayan and Nahua roots, Henriquez mixes politically minded murals and street art with apparel and more. His work promotes “the transmission of indigenous thought and philosophy” through everything from T-shirts to stickers to skateboard decks.

For generations, Barger Cemetery has stood quietly on the edge of campus, dotted with headstones bearing the names of people who helped shape the community.

Virginia Tech students and researchers are helping bring the stories of the cemetery to light, using historical research and archaeological investigation to better understand the lives and legacies of those buried there.

Linton will succeed Tim Sands, who will continue to serve as president until Linton assumes office at the beginning of the 2027 spring semester.

Part of the Virginia Tech Alumni community, Linton received his bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and Ph.D. from Virginia Tech. He currently serves as president of Kansas State University.

“My 40-year journey in the land-grant system began at Virginia Tech,” said Linton. “Having earned three degrees here, the opportunity to return home and serve as president of my alma mater is a true honor.”
