Coast Salish artist Jason LaClair created one of our two new library card designs unveiled during Library Card Sign-Up Month. We love it! Do your family and friends have a card? Encourage them to visit the library to get started.

LIBRARY CARD SIGN-UP MONTH: Now that's a beautiful library card! We are honored to feature a design by Coast Salish artist Sienum Jason LaClair as one of our new library card options. Jason originally created "Cedar People" to accompany our Land Acknowledgement. We knew right away it would look great on a card. Thank you, Jason. We are grateful to partner with you on this and other projects. Donors to the Whatcom County Library Foundation funded the artist's commission. Thank you! Choose "Cedar People" or one of our other designs when you apply for your library card at any WCLS branch.

Looking to get into the fall mood? Volunteer with the Friends of Blaine Library, Kristanie Ulrich, recommends the mystery/thriller 𝐻𝑒𝑛𝑑𝑒𝑑 by Darcy Cotes. πŸ‚

Kristanie writes, "Looking to jump in for an easy, suspenseful thriller? 𝐻𝑒𝑛𝑑𝑒𝑑 it is. As a kid, I loved πΊπ‘œπ‘œπ‘ π‘’π‘π‘’π‘šπ‘π‘ , π‘†π‘π‘œπ‘œπ‘π‘¦-π·π‘œπ‘œ, and all things monsters. While you may feel 𝐻𝑒𝑛𝑑𝑒𝑑 leads you down certain paths, it hits unexpected twists and turns as well!"

You can place a hold for 𝐻𝑒𝑛𝑑𝑒𝑑 on our website: https://wcls.bibliocommons.com/v2/record/S150C703137

SATURDAY, AUG. 15, 7-8 P.M., AT THE BLAINE LIBRARY. Singer songwriter (and local favorite!) Sarah Goodin continues our free summer concert series, Whatcom Grooves. This concert will be held outside in front of the Blaine Library . We will have some chairs set up but bring your own if you want to be sure to have a place to perch! Live music from a tremendously talented musician at the library on a late summer evening ... sounds perfect. Event details: https://wcls.libcal.com/event/16700484

The Whatcom Grooves Summer Concert Series is generously supported by the Whatcom County Library Foundation. Financial donations to support local libraries are gratefully accepted at the concerts.
