☕🚔 They expected about 20 students. Fifty-three young men signed up!

On Tuesday, October 20, Bobcats from ECMS and ECHS visited McDonald’s in Blakely for Coffee with a Cop: a morning of conversation and connection with the people who serve our community.

Sheriff Price, who also drives a bus for ECSS, transported our students to McDonald's where they had a warm welcome, some breakfast, and conversation with peers and local law enforcement.

While the morning is intended to be casual, Sheriff Price did share a few words with the young men as a whole: “I love each and every one of you. And I will do anything humanly possible within the law to help you succeed in life.”

A huge THANK YOU to Livingston Fulton and TCB of WSRA-AM 1250; the staff from GLS enterprises including the amazing staff at the Blakely McDonald's; sponsors Hometown Staffing Solutions and Ryan “The Job Guy” Martin and Lauren “The Job Girl” Martin; and Early County Georgia Sheriff's Office, City Of Blakely Police Department, City of Blakely Fire Department.

Our young people need to hear that they are loved, that their futures matter, and that their community is here to help them succeed. Thank you to everyone who took the time to show our Bobcats just that. 💙💛

💙💛 It’s Wednesday, Bobcats, and you know what that means! Time to catch up with another Early County graduate! This week’s Where Are They Wednesday takes us to Thomasville, GA to visit with Kaylon Harrell, Class of 2010!

In his time at Early County, Kaylon started on the offensive line for the Bobcat football team for four years. He also threw the discus and played golf. After graduation, he headed to Valdosta State University, where he played football and helped his team win the division 2 national championship in 2012. He graduated from VSU in 2014 earning his degree in Exercise Physiology.

After three years working as an exercise physiologist in Dothan, Kaylon had a physical therapy school application ready, but decided teaching and coaching were calling his name! That decision brought him home to Early County in 2017, where he taught special education and coached, working across all three ECSS schools.

Today, Kaylon teaches special education and coaches the offensive line at Thomas County Central High School where he’s helped take the team to two football state championships, in 2023 and 2025! He’s also earned master’s and specialist degrees in Special Education from VSU and is currently working on his doctorate in special education at American College of Education. We’d say he’s staying pretty busy!

Life at home is busy, too! Kaylon and his wife of nine years, Brittni, have three children; Ally Jo, Riley, and Ridge with baby number four arriving in November. Brittni also stays busy and is a nurse practitioner at Archbold’s pulmonary clinic.

When asked who helped shape his path, Kaylon named coaches Bob Hall and Kerry Morris and teachers Kim Hall and Sandra Langley. From discipline and hard work to encouragement and belief in him, their lessons stayed with Kaylon long after graduation. Lessons that he now gets to pass along to his own students and players.

Kaylon says Early County helped him to build a strong work ethic, resilient attitude, and appreciation for family. He will always be grateful for the people who helped shape him.

Keep making a difference in the lives of youth, Coach Harrell - you make us proud! Once a Bobcat, always a Bobcat! 🐾
