🎓 ECHS Junior & Senior College and Career Tour Experience! 🚗⚡️

Our ECHS Juniors and Seniors had a great In-Service Day exploring career and technical education opportunities at Lincoln Tech in East Point, Georgia, just outside Atlanta!

Students learned about several hands-on trade programs, including Automotive Technology, Electrical, HVAC, and Welding. This experience allowed our students to explore career pathways, learn about specialized training programs, and discover opportunities to help them prepare for life after high school.

A special thank-you to Kimberly Grisson-Dixon, MSSI, and Mr. Jimmy Stephens for presenting the programs, sharing valuable information, discussing scholarship opportunities, and providing a tour of the campus.

We would also like to thank our dedicated chaperones, Mr. Espy, Dr. Richardson, Ms. Tyson, and Mrs. Swift, for supporting our students throughout this experience.

At ECHS, we are committed to helping our students explore their options, discover their interests, and prepare for their futures. Whether they choose college, technical training, the military, or entering the workforce, we want our students to know that there are multiple pathways to success! 💙🎓

🗣️ In addition to placing classes, students demonstrated their communication and critical-thinking skills by presenting oral reasons to justify their selections.

🔹 Junior competitors presented two sets of oral reasons.
🔹 Senior competitors presented four sets of oral reasons.

🥜 Canning Peanuts in Ag Class!

Students in Mrs. Murphree’s and Mrs. Boerner’s agricultural classes took their learning to the canning plant for a hands-on lesson in food safety and food handling.

Students helped with each stage of the process: filling cans with jumbo peanuts, salt, and water; using the can sealing machine; and learning how the pressure cookers are used to cook the sealed cans. From preparing cans to operating equipment, everyone had a role in turning raw peanuts into a finished product.

Experiences like this show students how agricultural products move from the farm through food processing, and why careful handling matters every step of the way! 💙💛

🐄🐖 Hands-On Learning in Animal Science!

Mrs. Boerner’s Animal Science classes have been learning about the different methods used to identify livestock and why accurate identification matters. Ear tags and ear notches help producers keep track of individual animals and their records.

Students put their knowledge to work by using a large animal ear tagger on classroom simulators. They practiced handling the tool and placing tags while learning about safety and proper tag placement.

The classes also learned how to read ear notches on swine. To apply what they learned, students made ear-notched headbands that represented their own birthdays. Their classmates could then practice reading the notches to figure out each birthday!

These activities gave students a chance to build practical livestock skills while having fun in the classroom. 💙💛

🎓🌱 Exploring Opportunities at UGA ShowCAES! 🐾🔬

Early County High School students had an exciting opportunity to travel to Tifton, Georgia, to attend UGA ShowCAES and explore the opportunities available through the University of Georgia Tifton Campus!

Throughout the day, students toured Bowen Farm, learned about different areas of agricultural research, and discovered how research and innovation are helping shape the future of Georgia agriculture. Students also had the opportunity to meet with professors and graduate students to hear firsthand about their experiences, educational pathways, research, and career opportunities.

Experiences like ShowCAES give our students the chance to explore college and career pathways within the agricultural industry while connecting what they learn in the classroom to real-world opportunities. 🌾🎓

A big thank you to the UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and UGA Tifton Campus for welcoming our students and providing such an informative and engaging experience!

Thank you to ECHS chaperones that were able to watch over our students!

👏 Mrs. Warren

👏 Mr. Holloman

👏 Mrs. Boerner

👏 Mrs. Murphree

❤️💙 We are excited to see where these opportunities may lead our students in the future!
