We are seeing lots of smoke coming in from the Ross fire in Palo Pinto County. You will smell smoke and it will be very hazy. Please do not call in on just those things alone but if you see a column of smoke or flames please call it in.

Blanket VFD would like to thank the following organization and people for responding to the Neighbor fire over the past few days. Zephyr Volunteer Fire Department, Early Fire Department , May Volunteer Fire Department & First Responders, Winchell Volunteer Fire Department, Brookesmith VFD, Brownwood Fire Department, Bangs Vfd, Brady Fire Deparment, Rochelle Volunteer Fire Department, Coleman County Strike team, Comanche Volunteer Fire Department, Chip Barker, Texas DPS, Brown County Sheriff's Office, Multiple TIFMAS strike teams, Texas Forest Service, Brown County Precincts, Jeff Meadow, Texas National Guard and multiple more.

We would also like to thank our local community for supporting us as we can not function without your generous donations.

Times like this are hard but shows how much can be done when neighbors come together to help each other out.

The Neighbor fire is listed by TFS as 100% contained as of 8PM tonight. All state resources are off the fire and will most likely be reassigned elsewhere in the state. 100% contained does not mean out. It means that there are containment lines 100% around the fire that we feel will hold. Blanket VFD will still be periodically patrolling around the fire over the next few days.

We have been asked what is needed on the fire such as drinking water and Gatorade. We have enough on hand to handle this fire but our supplies will be depleted. Water and Gatorade can be dropped in front of the station not blocking a door. Also we need monetary donations as fuel is not cheap we have Venmo or it can be mailed to Blanket VFD PO Box 72 76432.

Blanket VFD along with multiple other agencies are working a fire in the area of Co Rd 294 and Hughdy Lane. The fire is moving North. Please stay out of the area and let crews work. If you are asked to evacuate please do so. This is all the information we have to share at this time.

Thanks to Early, Brownwood and May for coming out to help us on a structure fire today. It was an old house being used for storage. No one lost a home and no one was injured.

Blanket VFD has just acquired extrication tools and 2 AED's. The AED's are replacing 2 older, soon to be obsolete AED's. The extrication tools are something we haven't had before and will give us the capability to perform extrication's that in the past we had to call for help from neighboring departments.

This wouldn't be possible without donations as the $20k grant requires us to purchase the equipment and then after we pay for the items the Forest Service reimburses us at 90%.

Thanks to everyone that came out to our fundraiser. We brought in right around $7k that will keep us up and running.
