Cool honor for one of our own!

WEMSA is proud to share that former board member and longtime treasurer Jay Young was recently invited to Governor Evers' Year of the Neighbor Celebration at the Wisconsin Executive Residence!

Jay has served as an EMT in Bloomer for 36 years, and his three sons have followed in his footsteps as EMTs too. He attended the event with his son Jamison, and even had a chance to share his story directly with the Governor. Later in the event, Governor Evers referenced Jay and his sons as an example of the dedication rural EMS providers bring to their communities every day.

Governor Tony Evers declared 2026 the Year of the Neighbor in his State of the State Address, honoring the first responders, teachers, farmers, nurses, and everyday helpers who make Wisconsin communities strong. WEMSA was proud to nominate Jay as one of ten individuals recognized for going above and beyond in their communities.

Congratulations, Jay, and thank you for 36 years of service to Bloomer and the EMS profession!

The Bloomer Ambulance Association recently donated an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and a cabinet to the Bloomer Community Club. The AED will be kept at the Bloomer Fair Grounds B**r Garden spring through fall, so it's available during all the events held there. The AED and cabinet were purchased through fundraising efforts.
