Celebrate National Friends of Libraries Week by joining the Friends of the Bloomfield Township Public Library!

Volunteer at Second Saturday Sales, help in the Library Shop, support fundraising, or become a Friends Board member. You’ll help support literacy, arts and culture, and programs for our community — while making new connections and building skills along the way.

Friends also enjoy early access to Second Saturday Sales and the annual Friends Meeting and Luncheon!

Looking for some Halloween fun? We aren't able to offer Trick-or-Treating this year because of all the construction, but our Youth Services staff has put together a kit full of fun and festive crafts, games, and surprises! Kits will be available beginning Friday, October 23rd at the Shared Service Desk on a first-come, first-served basis with a limit of one kit per child while supplies last.

Yesterday morning the Community Room was a construction zone for little ones as Little Builders used giant Lincoln logs, giant Legos, light boards, and an assortment of other building toys to create colorful builds like these. Did you know the Friends of the Bloomfield Township Public Library have contributed $1.85 million and counting to support our Library? That’s an incredible impact made possible by dedicated volunteers and community support!

Through book sales, the Library Shop, donations, and memberships, the Friends help fund beautiful gardens, artwork, concerts, and programs for all ages, including adaptive programs.

This week, we’re celebrating all they do to make our Library a special place to learn, connect, and discover!

Construction continues to move along on schedule! Each week, we’re sharing a look at the progress being made as we work toward creating refreshed, flexible spaces for our community.

Last week’s progress: Masonry wall work, including openings and repairs, is complete, and overhead piping installation is underway. Much of this masonry work is being done to create a new corridor to connect the youth room and the new teen area, as well as to house our vending machines.

This week and next: Electrical ceiling rough-in, framing walls with metal studs, and cutting the floor to install new electrical floor boxes.

It’s your chance to write to the Youth Department’s mascot, Ted E. Bear. Here’s how it works: grab some paper and a pencil and write a letter to Ted. Tell him about your day, your favorite books, or ask him what he’s been up to while the Youth Room is closed for construction. Pop your letter in the special mailbox at the shared Service Desk and wait patiently for 7 – 10 days while Ted E. Bear reads it, then check your own mailbox for his response! Ted will accept letters through October 31.
