Like most gardens in New Jersey this summer, Pulaski Park Community Garden is enjoying and dreading the over the top rainfall this growing season. The initial rounds of waterfall this spring produced super gorgeous and plentiful beds of leafy green vegetables. The daily 90 degree plus temps this summer preceded and followed by the extensive rains, boosted our heat loving vegetables like tomatoes and peppers into overdrive, producing large quantities of juicy vegetables.
But right about now, we could use a break from some of the rain so we can catch up with harvesting, pruning and planting for fall. This past Saturday was a work day in the garden. Kudos to the team of gardeners who were on a mission to pull as many w**ds as possible. Yeah, the w**ds love the rain also!!!
We are also happy to report that we donated an abundance of dinosaur kale, cucumbers, tomatoes, basil, giant zucchinis and peppers to the Farmer’s Market this past Tuesday!
