Thanks to funding passed by my colleagues and I in the General Assembly, the Governor and our fantastic partners across Illinois have erased $1.4 billion in medical debt!

Because of the Illinois Medical Debt Relief Program, families’ lives have been changed. For pennies on the dollar, Illinois has given patients struggling to pay their rent and afford groceries an opportunity for some breathing room.

As the federal government rips affordable healthcare from those who need help the most, Illinois has stepped up. I am proud to see our friends and neighbors with this need receive support from our state!

As your voice in Springfield, higher education is always a top priority. Four great campuses call our district home, and representing them and their students is one of my favorites parts of this job.

Whether we’re protecting journalists at our colleges or expanding scholarships for our social work students, I’ll always work to make an education more accessible for students in our state!

While this president’s reckless wars raise prices on farmers, in Illinois, we’re doing all we can to cut costs.

The temporary measures that Governor JB Pritzker announced will help minimize the skyrocketing costs of diesel. State and local agencies can remove price penalties, extend cost-cutting programs, and dyed diesel farm vehicles can now use our highways.

I’m grateful to the constituents right here in our community who raised this idea with me, and for the Governor’s collaboration and willingness to act swiftly.

It was a pleasure to join the Illinois National Guard for the opening of the new Vehicle Maintenance Shop right here in Bloomington.

With a full staff and the state’s investment in the tools and infrastructure necessary to support disaster response, we’re ensuring Illinois is ready for whatever the future brings.

Thank you to Adjutant General Rodney Boyd, as well as all of the uniform and non-uniform public servants and leaders who make achievements like the opening of this new facility possible!

Our Mobile DMV is up and running at Heartland Community College!

We have residents from across the 91st district getting their licenses renewed, real IDs issued, and receiving other important services right here in Normal. The DMV will also be accommodating walk-in visits if time and staffing allows.

Celebrating the storied career of WGLT’s very own Charlie Schlenker was an absolute honor.

He has been a pillar in journalism and a fixture in our region for many years. Beyond thousands of published articles, countless tough interviews and shelves full of awards, one thing stands above it all: he is a person of immense personal character.

I presented Charlie with a Resolution from the Illinois House of Representatives to commemorate his career and wish him a happy, well-deserved retirement.

Thank you, Charlie, for spending so much of your time keeping this community informed. We are truly a better place because of it.
