We are proud to partner on this initiative, and to help connect people with housing and supports through this innovative program.
First phase complete, and second phase in progress. ✅
Indiana Township Association
One of the new tenants in Bloomington, Indiana, told outreach workers it was the first time he had slept in a bed of his own. Another said he had given up on the idea of having his own place.
Over six weeks in August and September, Streets to Stability moved 13 people who had been sleeping outside in downtown Bloomington into housing with a year of rental subsidy and tailored support to help them stay home. An estimated 150 people are unsheltered across Bloomington and Monroe County, and the initiative is working one area at a time.
"We have been clear that temporary fixes are not enough," said Bloomington Mayor Kerry Thomson, who serves on the initiative's leadership team. "These 13 individuals now have a home and continued support."
Next: 50 people housed from downtown by the end of 2026. 👏
