Today’s Wellness Wednesdays Featured Speaker: Dr. Adno Gatah

We are honored to welcome Dr. Adno Gatah, Medical Director at Hi‑Gate Urgent Care for Children, as today’s featured speaker.

Dr. Gatah is a triple board-certified nurse practitioner serving pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations, with over 16 years of experience. Throughout her career, she has dedicated herself to improving the physical and mental health of marginalized and underserved communities, including multicultural and multilingual families in Minneapolis.

Dr. Gatah has a special love and commitment to the Maangaar (autism) community, even dedicating her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) dissertation to autism. As a pediatric provider, she brings more than a decade of experience supporting children with developmental delays, autism, ADHD, emotional disturbances, chronic health conditions, and complex mental health needs.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Gatah is a strong advocate for health equity, cultural humility, and culturally responsive care. She has led seminars and trainings for healthcare providers on racial and ethnic health disparities, helping advance more equitable and evidence-based healthcare practices across Minnesota.

Her work reflects a deep belief that cultural humility in healthcare strengthens trust between families and providers and leads to better outcomes for our communities.

We look forward to learning from her today.

Join us for Wellness Wednesdays from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM CST.

Wellness Wednesdays | Today’s Conversation!

Today’s Wellness Wednesdays gathering will focus on an important question for our community: How are we moving the movement forward together? We will reflect on how we continue to grow awareness and acceptance around autism and disability within our communities. We will also talk about accountability to Maangaar, strengthening our shared responsibility to support families, and how coalition building, collaboration, and knowledge sharing can expand the impact of this work.

This will be a space for open dialogue, reflection, and collective visioning as we continue building a stronger, more connected community.

Join us today from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM CST.
If you are already registered, please check your email for the Zoom link.

April is Autism Awareness Month: This month is not just about awareness. It’s about acceptance, understanding, and support

The word Maangaar—“Unique Mind,” coined by Dr. Hussein Awjama, the Somali term Maangaar means “Unique Mind,” reflecting a strength-based approach to autism and neurodiversity. Inspired by the Māori term Takiwātanga (“in their own time and space”), this reframing challenges stigma and fosters acceptance in immigrant communities.

To every parent navigating this journey
You are not alone.
We see you.
We support you.
