The Blue Earth Police Department has received multiple reports of individuals tampering with motor vehicles and taking items from vehicles in the area. This was also reported on FB in the Fairmont, MN area yesterday. Because of this, this alert should apply to all neighboring communities also. Faribault County Sheriff's Office, MN City of Winnebago Etc.
We’re asking residents to take a few simple precautions:
Lock your vehicle, even if it’s parked at home or only for a short time.
Remove valuables and anything visible from inside.
Take your keys/fobs inside and never leave a vehicle running unattended.
Keep exterior areas well-lit when possible.
Be aware of suspicious people or activity around parked vehicles and neighborhoods.
If you see someone checking vehicle doors, looking into vehicles, or otherwise acting suspiciously, please call law enforcement rather than confronting them yourself.
If your vehicle has been entered or something has been taken, please report it to the police. Even if you don’t think the item is valuable, the report may help us identify a pattern or connect multiple incidents.
As always, if you see something suspicious, say something. Your information could help prevent someone else from becoming a victim.
