Your Blue Ridge Fire Department volunteers spent the evening training our vehicle extrication skills. These skills are important when dealing with vehicle accidents. We were lucky to share our training with the duty crew from Botetourt Fire and EMS which allows all of us to work together as a team. Also many thanks to Blue Ridge Wrecker Service for providing the vehicles for us to train on.

Fall brings cooler temperatures and colorful fall foliage, but it also brings an increased risk of wildfires due to dry conditions, low humidity and fallen leaves, which act as a ready fuel source.

Now through Nov. 30, use extra caution with any potential ignition sources, especially outdoor fires. Additional guidance on how you can stay safe this fire season can be found on our website: https://ow.ly/Xxah50ZXZ4w

Most of Blue Ridge spent Saturday night/Sunday morning in the dark. Here’s the culprit. Wind and rain caused a short on Webster Heights Rd. This is a good opportunity for us to remind everyone to not take any chances when electricity is involved. Stay clear and call 911.
