Students from Blue Springs High School and Blue Springs South High School partnered with Queen Bee Boutiques & The Vintage Bee in Blue Springs where they pitched their creations to a panel of judges in a shark-tank-style competition called the "Bee Tank".

Lucas Henderson took first place with his curated second-hand clothing. Haylee Thompson, who runs her own baked goods business, finished second place, and Mirabella Henderson took third place with her crocheted stuffed animals.

The top three competitors will all receive a dedicated space in the store’s "student hive" area, and all competitors will have a chance to display their creations there.

A huge thank you to Queen Bee Boutiques & The Vintage Bee for giving these students this opportunity!

The Blue Springs Wildcats and the Blue Springs South Jaguars played their 20th "Dig 4 the Cure" volleyball matchup and raised over $5,000!

This year's recipient is Shenquila Story, a local mom who has been battling breast and brain cancer for the past 3 years. The event included a silent auction, 50/50 drawing, cupcake sales, and t-shirt sales. The players also gave out carnations to all in attendance who are or who have battled cancer.

A special thanks to the sponsors Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers, Drenon Jewelry, Blackburn Orthodontics, Blue Springs Education Foundation, Invasion Volleyball Club, and Custom Graphics KC.

Career Innovation Center Business and Marketing teacher Stephanie Lower is BSSD's October Employee of the Month.

Before becoming an educator, Mrs. Lower worked for seven years as a marketing manager, and she brought that experience to our students by helping to build the Business Accelerator Program from the ground up.

During the 2025-2026 school year, Mrs. Lower and her team worked with over 50 community members and facilitated over 30 client-connected projects that helped students solve real, authentic problems while learning important professional skills. Her efforts were noticed by the Missouri Association for Career and Technical Education who recognized her as the 2025 New Teacher of the Year.

Stephanie guides students to become entrepreneurial thinkers who carry these skills forward and grow into engaged, capable adults. She genuinely cares about every student who walks through the CIC doors, and it shows in every interaction. Her ability to build meaningful relationships is unmatched.

Congratulations to Stephanie Lower!
